The name "Teuber" means "keeper of the doves or dovecote". In medieval
times, the dovecoat was an important renewable source of meat for manors
belonging both to the nobility and to the church. The common people ate rather
more poorly. (See Coulton - The Medieval Village.)
With a single exception, I have been able to trace the name only to circa
1505, which is probably as early as records for the common folk were kept,
being the generation of the Reformation. With a few connections lacking the
requisite multiple proofs, I present the ancestry of my maternal Grandfather
below. The earliest records are from the "county" surrounding Wuerttemburg,
and show a migration into Silesia where the family seat was located for the
three centuries prior to World War II.
